Does your structural tubing meet ASTM A500 Grade B specifications?
Yes. All Hollow Structural Sections (HSS) from MB Metals meet ASTM A500 Grade B or better.
Do you provide Mill Test Reports for your pipe and tubing products?
Absolutely. Mill Test Reports (MTRs) are provided with every shipment to ensure compliance and traceability.
What’s the difference between A513 and A500 tubing?
ASTM A500 tubing is primarily used in structural applications due to its strength and durability. ASTM A513 tubing is used more often in consumer-facing products like furniture and fitness equipment, where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical.
How is ferrous scrap different from non-ferrous?
Ferrous metals contain iron and are magnetic and are prone to rust. Examples include alloy steel, carbon steel, cast iron, wrought iron, and Manganese.
Nonferrous metals do not contain iron and are nonmagnetic and are more resistant to corrosion. Examples include aluminum, copper, tin, titanium, zinc and nickel.
How can I sort ferrous from non-ferrous scrap?
Use a magnetic stick – if it is magnetic, it attaches itself to the magnetic stick it is ferrous. If there is no attraction to the magnet it is non-ferrous.
What are common ferrous scrap types and/or items?
Types include: Steel, stainless steel, mild steel, cast iron, wrought iron, white iron, carbon steel, brass, manganese steel
Some common items containing ferrous steel include: rail road rails, decorative railing, automotive components, engine blocks, iron or steel mill rolls, steel beams, plates and cables, machinery parts, gears, many household appliances, kitchen utensils, medical instruments, steel pipe and tubing, manhole covers, heavy duty castings
